The Telugu Speaking Union operates under the aegis of the Ministry of Arts and Cultural Heritage and caters for the promotion and development of the Telugu language in its spoken and written form. The Union consists of ordinary members who have an interest in the development, propagation and promotion of the Telugu language. The request to join the Union has to be approved by the Executive Council, which is constituted in accordance with section 6 of the Telugu Speaking Union Act 2015.The Executive Council meets at least once per month and issues related to the main activities and policy actions are discussed and decisions taken in accordance with existing rules and procedures. All the activities aim at promoting and improving the use of the Telugu language in Mauritius.
